Google Introduces Gemini Scheduling Tool for Calendar Meetings

Google has launched a new Gemini-powered feature designed to make scheduling one-on-one meetings faster and more efficient.

The feature, called “Help me schedule,” is now available in Gmail. It integrates directly with Google Calendar to help users find suitable meeting times without lengthy email exchanges.

Meeting Scheduling

The new tool focuses on one-on-one meetings. When composing an email, users will see a “Help me schedule” button below the message window.

When selected, Gemini scans the user’s calendar and generates a list of available time slots.

Users can edit or remove any of these suggestions before inserting them into the email.

Once the recipient chooses a preferred time, the meeting is automatically added to both parties’ calendars. This eliminates the need for manual coordination or follow-up messages.

Many scheduling tools already exist, including Calendly, Doodle, Zoom Scheduler, and HubSpot.

However, Google’s tool stands out because it uses Gemini’s language understanding to interpret the content of the email.

For example, if a recipient requests a 30-minute meeting next week, Gemini will only display relevant half-hour time slots within that period.

This context-aware approach makes the scheduling process more precise and reduces unnecessary back-and-forth.

Gemini Integration

The scheduling tool is just one part of Google’s effort to integrate Gemini deeper into its Workspace ecosystem. The company recently announced several AI updates, including:

  • Nano Banana, a new image editing model with improved flexibility.
  • Expanded Gemini support in Google Slides to accelerate presentation creation.
  • Gems, custom AI assistants that teams can share and reuse.
  • New formats in NotebookLM to enhance note organization.
  • Upgraded AI features in Google Vids for better video editing capabilities.

An Upgrade

Google Calendar already offered appointment scheduling features. However, they were limited to Calendar itself and did not involve AI.

Integrating scheduling directly into Gmail removes the friction between suggesting times and finalizing appointments.

Workspace Enhancements

Alongside the Gemini scheduling feature, Google also announced a change to Google Keep. All reminders created in Keep will now automatically sync with Google Tasks.

This update improves task organization and ensures that reminders remain consistent across platforms.
