Emochi AI is a character-chat platform built around roleplay. You pick a character, read the opening scenario, and steer the story with your replies. Tags such as Romance, Drama, Comedy, and BL organize the catalog. Users create many of the characters. Quality varies from bot to bot. In my tests, an open-world bot held its character through 30 messages. However, my custom character cracked under stress.
Kaon AI, the company behind FlowGPT, makes Emochi. You can use it on the web at emochi.com or through its Android app. Google Play lists the app at 10M+ downloads. As of October 2026, Emochi’s website claims more than six million users, though I couldn’t independently verify that.

Key Features
1. Huge Character Library
Unlike Replika, which centers on one ongoing companion, Emochi’s homepage lists more than one million characters and bots. I browsed tabs such as Trending, Premium, Today, Comedy, and Friend. Stories range from school and slice-of-life setups to supernatural, crime plots, and open worlds.
I went with an open world, a world simulator with no fixed script. Over about 30 messages, the bot kept the story moving and never slipped out of character, which is what an unscripted world needs most. Memory held too, within the 8k memory window, so earlier details stayed available as the story grew.
I switched my character from a scared girl in hiding to a spy mid-conversation to test memory consistency. At first, the AI character reacted with confusion and fired off questions to clarify details. My guess is this was the AI’s attempt to re-establish a logical narrative. It worked. The AI eventually brought the story to a conclusive head without losing the thread, and that impressed me because a flip like that could easily have derailed the plot.

2. Custom Character Creation
I designed a character with one specific personality trait: she is a nice popular girl, the opposite of the mean-girl stereotype.
Emochi followed this instruction and stayed kind even when I sent cruel messages.

But out of curiosity, I deployed even more maneuvers, and eventually, the character cracked.

The goody-two-shoes character became someone more sinister.
Note: In the app, extended bios allow 300 characters on Free, 600 on Plus, and 1,000 on Ultra. Paid plans also have unlimited bot creation.
3. Model and Response Controls
Plus gives you much more control over replies than Free does, starting with the models. Free users get two chat models, while Plus includes four premium models. Plus users can also choose short, balanced, or long replies. They are also allowed to adjust creativity and write custom model instructions of up to 600 characters.
4. Bot Memory
Memory is the limitation I ran into during my tests. Paid plans offer enhanced bot memory. However, Emochi says memory space is limited, and old memories fade when it fills. The good thing, however, is that each character has its own memory space (8K). I hit that cap after about 40 messages, and watching the bot forget plot points I’d introduced was frustrating because it broke immersion in longer stories.
5. Voice, Smart Replies, and Images
Ultra offers the biggest voice and image quotas at fifteen times the free allowance, while Plus offers five times. Free still gives you a taste with five daily voice messages, five daily smart replies, and two daily image generations. Paid users can also turn on auto-play voice, so replies play without a tap.
6. Moments and Custom Backgrounds
Exclusive Moments are diary entries written by your bot. Free users get one, while Plus and Ultra users get unlimited moments. In addition, paid users can upload custom chat backgrounds for each character. It’s a cosmetic perk, so I wouldn’t upgrade for it alone.
7. Mochi Currency
Mochi is Emochi’s in-app currency. Emochi says you spend it on deeper interactions with its flagship models, which it describes as its most powerful. Ultra includes 2,000 free Mochi each month, which Emochi values at $20.
8. Web and Android Access
Emochi runs in a browser at emochi.com, which I used. In my opinion, if you’re just testing the waters, the webpage is a good place to start. But if you want more dedicated use, you can get the Android app on Google Play.
Google Play rates that app 18+, so treat it as an adult product. Note that Emochi’s terms prohibit sexually explicit user submissions, and they let the company filter or modify content with automated tools.
Can Emochi AI provide AI Companionship?
Yes, for casual sessions. Emochi works well for roleplay under 40 messages, because you build your own characters and world while the AI adds novelty. But the memory cap makes it frustrating for long-running stories.
Emochi suits casual roleplay with its catalog of more than one million characters. For a single long-term companion, Replika is the better pick, since Emochi’s memory filled after about 40 messages in my test. However, as revealed by my stress-testing, Emochi AI may break out of character if you back it up against a wall. If you plan to run stories longer than 40 messages, expect the bot to forget earlier plot points, which broke immersion in my test. For shorter sessions, the memory cap won’t affect you.
Emochi is worth using, and I recommend the free plan for most users because it covers casual sessions under 40 messages. I’d only upgrade to Plus if you’re chatting daily and the ads become unbearable, since it removes ads and adds enhanced memory. I’d skip Ultra unless you use voice and image features daily, since its main extras are 2,000 monthly Mochi and higher voice and image quotas.
