Kits AI is an online music-creation tool that creates music from recordings and lyrics with its AI voices. The selection of AI voices also converts vocal audio into songs and changes the singing voice on a song altogether.
Key Features
1. Vocal Conversion
Kits AI’s Vocal Conversion tool involves uploading an existing vocal recording and transforming it into a different voice using AI voice models. Users also have the option to use their own voice. This provides a great way to hear the same performance with new vocals and styles without the hassle of re-recording.
2. Lyric-to-Vocal Generation
This generation is basically song creation from scratch. The process requires providing text to Kits AI, preferably a short one, and then letting it create the melody and vocal expression that makes it a song. This is a great way to prototype and reiterate lyrics.
3. Melody & Harmony Tools
Kits AI features melody and harmony tools that infuse melodic contours into lyrics or chords. It also generates harmonies that add depth and fullness to a lead vocal.
4. Editing Control
There are editing controls that refine results by adjusting the pitch, timing, tone, and vocal character. It provides control that fine tune the results towards fitting the emotional intent and technical needs of the track.
5. Style & Genre Presets
The platform offers style and genre presets that guide vocal generation toward specific musical aesthetics such as pop, R&B, or rock. These presets act as starting points, helping users quickly achieve a vocal feel that aligns with their intended genre while still allowing room for customization.
6. Export & Download
Kits AI provides a way to distribute the vocal products by exporting them in common audio formats such as WAV. Vocals can be integrated into digital audio workstations and make for a smooth workflow.
7. Voice Model Library
Kits’ AI voices are distinct and diverse, with multiple options that fit into different styles and use cases. The varied choices encourage users to explore and find best fits, which is an important component for birthing creative tracks.
Using Kits AI
1. Voice Convert
I uploaded a song to Kits and used the voice convert option to change the voice on a song, on default settings.

The AI voice started off being good, but as the song progressed, I noticed a few things. When it got to a certain part of the song, the AI voice took a few turns. It was on track this second, and the next second, it was deep, vibrating, off-key, or high on autotune.
This tempo alternated for about a minute. It felt like an alien-disguised-as-a-human voice glitch, straight out of a movie. I should say that the original song had two or more voices towards the end. That could have been the root of the issue. The AI was probably trying to accommodate and wrap around both voices.
However, the issues didn’t end there. I notice some voice breaks akin to those of a pubescent boy, masked by an unpleasant auto-tune effect. At that point, I decided to go with another song, but that slightly changed the outcome.
I did notice that these issues occurred at high pitches. It seemed like the AI voice struggled to maintain an intentional transition between notes, resulting in some unnatural wobbling/drifiting. That being said, I also noticed a few good things;
- The AI did stay on key for most of the song. Definitely, natural voice nuances will generate some variation, but the notes were’t far apart.
- The lyrics aligned with the beat and were right on cue.
- Song phrasing was natural; not raised or dragged, but exactly as the original.
- All the words were enunciated. It was easy to pick out the lyrics.
- Except for the glitches, the voice character stayed consistent for most of the song.
- The emotions and cadence matched the original song.
2. Old Convert
To use this feature, I selected a voice to train and selected another to merge with. The voices were male and female; I was hoping for an androgynous pitch. After merging, I uploaded an audio to work with.

The voice did sound close to androgynous, but I did detect an unmistakable female undertone to it. I also noticed the glitches present in my other use cases, but only a handful of them.
The Bottom Line
Kits AI is best used as a prototyping and re-iteration tool. It also suits casual use cases. Although its capabilities are great, the glitches and faults set it back. The delicate nature of vocal expression means that Kits AI has to improve if it is to be applied to professional use cases.
