Meeting writing standards or checklists poses a challenge. You have to constantly remind yourself of the specific parameters while balancing getting your ideas out. However, a tool like Wordtune can take the stress out of the equation.

Wordtune is an AI writing assistant that helps to refine, rewrite, and rephrase text. And in this Wordtune review, we will explore its features, pricing, and how it compares to other tools on the market.

Overview And Main Features

1. Rewrite Suggestions

This tool helps to rephrase sentences, and it provides multiple paraphrasing options. Each of the options helps to improve clarity, adjust tone, or refine the writing style. The mechanism for engaging this feature is simple: simply highlight a sentence, and Wordtune will give you alternatives that still maintain the original meaning.

2. Tone Adjustments

Wordtune allows you to alter the tone of your texts. You can make it casual or formal, changing it to match the audience.

3. Sentence Shortening and Expansion

You can shorten or expand upon a point in order to keep things concise or to add more depth where necessary. This is a great feature for meeting word counts, article quality standards, or providing concise summaries.

4. Context-Aware Suggestions

Wordtune has been integrated with AI that understands the context and underlying intent of sentences. When making grammar suggestions, it takes into account the readability, word choice, and sentence structure. All those considerations are geared towards ensuring the major message is maintained.

5. Multilingual Writing

Although this tool primarily works in English, it can provide writing support for other languages. It works by providing English suggestions to non-English inputs. The suggestions would be grammatically correct, irrespective.

6. Wordtune Spices (Beta)

This feature is a step above rephrasing. It generates creative enhancements like analogies, counterarguments, and examples that add variety and richness to your content.

7. Browser Integration

Wordtune has both Chrome and Edge extensions. Consequently, this allows it to work across Google Docs, Gmail, LinkedIn, and more.

Use Cases

Wordtune review

To start, I pasted a block of text into the tool for review.

Then, I engaged the rewrite feature, and the tool offered helpful rephrasing suggestions.

I found that each of the four suggestions maintained the same idea but provided shorter rewrites. I proceeded to test out the tone feature, and I did find that Wordtune generated formal-sounding suggestions for the highlighted text.

Wordtune review: testing the formal tone rewrite feature

At this point, I noted that the daily limit was almost used up. Although a free trial, I found the tool lacking in that regard.

I decided to check out the shorten feature and found that it gave fairly accurate summaries.

There was also a setting that confirms if you want suggestions on just the first sentence you highlight or the entire highlighted paragraph.

Testing out the expand feature made me find the tool wanting in that regard. The points weren’t properly elaborated on. It felt like a rewrite, at most.

The Bottom Line

Wordtune is a good writing assistant. It caters to varying writing needs and stands out for its ability to tweak a section of text to fit parameters like concise, depth, formal, and casual. However, its capabilities are too lean. Compared to a popular AI tool like ChatGPT, it pales.
