Anthropic has officially introduced the voice mode feature for its Claude chatbot. This feature, currently in beta, allows users to hold full spoken conversations with Claude.

It will roll out in English over the next few weeks, as announced on X. It has also updated the support section on its website to include details about the feature.

What Voice Mode Can Do

Voice mode makes it possible for users to speak directly to Claude. In return, Claude replies using its own voice.

While Claude speaks, the app also shows key points on the screen to keep users informed throughout the conversation.

The mode supports real-time voice conversations and provides live transcripts. And after the session ends, users receive a summary.

To enhance the experience, users can choose from five different voice styles, each having a unique tone.

Powered by Claude Sonnet 4

The voice feature runs on Claude Sonnet 4, one of Anthropic’s advanced models. It processes spoken input quickly and responds with natural-sounding replies.

The system also allows smooth switching between talking and typing. This makes Claude more flexible than many other AI chat apps.

How Claude Compares to Other AI Assistants

Anthropic’s voice mode enters a market already filled with voice-enabled AI tools. OpenAI’s ChatGPT has voice chat.

Google’s Gemini includes a feature called Gemini Live. Elon Musk’s xAI uses voice mode for its Grok assistant.

However, Claude is unique because of its ability to handle both text and voice together. It can also work with images and documents.

Most importantly, users can personalize the experience by selecting from five available voices. This allows for a more human and relatable interaction.

Who Can Use Voice Mode

The new voice feature is available through the Claude mobile app and works on both Android and iOS devices.

To use it, users need a working internet connection and an Anthropic account. Right now, voice mode only supports English.

What to Expect Based on Your Plan

Free users can hold around 20 to 30 voice conversations each day. Once the limit is reached, they must wait for the next cycle.

However, paid subscribers get more access. They can also connect Claude to Gmail and Google Calendar. This allows them to receive voice-based reminders and summaries.

Enterprise users get extra features: they can integrate Claude with Google Docs as well.

Built with Future Collaboration in Mind

In early 2025, Anthropic’s Chief Product Officer, Mike Krieger, confirmed that voice features were on the way.

He also revealed that Anthropic had discussed potential partnerships with Amazon and ElevenLabs

Both companies have deep experience in AI and voice technology. But it is not yet clear if these talks led to any direct collaboration.
