Apple has reintroduced its AI news summaries in the latest iOS 26 developer beta. The feature, previously removed after misinterpreting major news headlines, now comes with clear warnings about accuracy.

The fourth iOS 26 developer beta, released this week, restores Apple Intelligence notification summaries.

After installing the update, users see a splash screen. There, they can choose to receive summarized notifications from categories like News & Entertainment.

The iPhone now displays a red warning message:
“Summarization may change the meaning of the original headlines. Verify information.”

It also reminds users that summaries may contain errors and that the feature is still in beta.

The First Introduction

Late last year, Apple faced criticism after several AI summaries distorted facts. In one notable case, it misrepresented a BBC headline.

As a result, the company disabled the feature. At the time, it promised to make improvements and reintroduce the feature later, which it has now done.

Besides the return of summaries, Apple made subtle design changes. The update enhances the look of its “Liquid Glass” interface.

Elements now appear more fluid and dynamic.

AI’s Limitations

Apple labels the summary tool a beta feature. That signals ongoing development and also sets user expectations.

In other words, the tech giant knows the AI is not perfect. It might misread, oversimplify, or misrepresent headlines.

This honest approach contrasts with earlier versions that made no such disclaimers.
