Patient phone calls have long been a pain point in healthcare. Long waits, repeated scheduling attempts, and busy front desks frustrate patients and staff alike.
However, Assort Health, a young startup, is betting that AI can solve this problem, and investors appear to agree.
Major Funding
Assort Health has secured $50 million in Series B funding, bringing the value of the company to $750 million, according to people familiar with the deal.
Lightspeed Venture Partners led this investment, which occurred just four months after the company’s $22 million Series A.
This fast pace directly reflects investor confidence in the company’s growth. It also shows a rising demand for AI in patient communications.
Assort Health
The company builds AI voice agents for medical offices to handle repetitive, high-volume calls. They can schedule or cancel appointments, answer common questions, and confirm details.
The AI frees staff to handle more sensitive conversations. A receptionist, for example, can focus on supporting patients with medical concerns rather than spending hours rescheduling visits.
Major Benefit
Specialty care practices often face long wait times. And patients who cannot reach a clinic quickly may choose a competitor instead.
Fast, reliable call handling can help practices keep patients and reduce lost revenue. Although Assort Health reports just over $3 million in annual recurring revenue, the company is growing fast.
It began with orthopedic and physical therapy clinics. It has now expanded its services to OB-GYN, dermatology, and dental practices as well.
AI Agents
Assort Health is one of the companies leveraging autonomous AI for real-world impact. EliseAI automates customer service for real estate and healthcare offices.
And it recently raised $250 million. Hello Patient, another AI assistant for clinics, secured $20 million earlier this month.
Other companies like Abridge, Heidi Health, and Ambience Healthcare, for example, use AI scribes to cut down on doctors’ paperwork.
Together, these tools tell us a thing or two about the next major frontier for AI in healthcare.
Founders
The company was founded by Jon Wang and Jeff Liu two years ago. Wang left medical school to pursue the startup.
Liu, a former Facebook engineer, brought technical expertise to the partnership. This mix has helped Assort Health win investor support.
