Google has expanded its advanced AI search feature, AI Mode, to five additional languages.Ā
Starting today, users who speak Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, and Brazilian Portuguese will gain access.
This can be viewed as Googleās effort to create a more inclusive and intelligent search experience.
Global Search
Language has long been a barrier in digital access. Most advanced features often launch in English first, leaving billions of people behind.
Googleās expansion seeks to correct that gap. With AI Mode, users can now ask more complex questions in their own language.
They will also receive results that are locally and culturally relevant. For example, a student in Tokyo can now search for academic resources in Japanese without relying on translations.
Similarly, an entrepreneur in SĆ£o Paulo can research business strategies in Brazilian Portuguese with responses tailored to local contexts.
Gemini 2.5
The foundation of this development is Googleās custom version of Gemini 2.5. The company explained that the system does far more than translate words.
Instead, it interprets meaning, tone, and cultural context. This allows the search engine to provide more natural and precise answers.
Gemini 2.5 also supports multimodal inputs. Users can combine text with images or layered prompts.
For instance, a parent in Seoul might upload a photo of ingredients and ask for healthy lunch ideas. AI Mode will then respond with suggestions that fit Korean food preferences.
Global Strategy
This launch fits into Googleās strategy for global reach. The company recently launched AI mode in India, catering to the South-Asian market, albeit in English.Ā
This new expansion is creating an all-inclusive market for Google. The company probably intends to add more languages as the AI mode gains even more traction.
