Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that over 1 billion people now use Meta AI every month across the company’s platforms.
This figure was shared during Meta’s annual shareholder meeting and was first reported by CNBC.
In September 2024, Meta AI had only 500 million users. However, in just eight months, the number has doubled.
AI Personalization
Zuckerberg emphasized Meta’s current priorities. The company aims to make Meta AI the leading personal assistant on the market.
The focus areas include increased personalization, natural voice conversations, and entertainment.
These features combined will help Meta achieve its plan to make AI feel less like a tool and more like a helpful companion.
Meta’s Plans for Revenue
Currently, Meta AI is free, however, Zuckerberg hinted at future changes. He discussed two possible business models: sponsored content and subscriptions.
The details are not laid out yet, but Meta has plans to monetize after the assistant has reached its desired capability.
This could help Meta compete directly with services like OpenAI’s ChatGPT or Anthropic’s Claude.
The Standalone App
One month ago, Meta launched a standalone Meta AI app that provided users with direct access to the assistant without needing to open Facebook, Instagram, or WhatsApp.
The app caters to questions, creates content, and can also plan activities.
