Apple is preparing a version of Siri to complete tasks across various apps using only voice commands.
In 2024, the company showcased a demonstration of an enhanced Siri. The assistant appeared smarter, more connected, and able to pull information from different apps.
However, the feature did not launch as expected, as development has taken longer than anticipated.
Now, Bloomberg reports that Apple is testing a new Siri that goes beyond answering questions, but can take direct action.
For example, a user could ask Siri to locate a photo, edit it, and send it, without touching the screen.
Updated App Intents
This increase in capability comes from an updated version of Apple’s App Intents framework.
The system allows developers to open specific parts of their apps to Siri, Spotlight, and Shortcuts.
As a result, users could issue precise commands. For instance:
- Search for a photo, apply a filter, and send it via Messages.
- Post a comment on social media without opening the app.
- Order a ride through Uber with one request.
- Search for a product on Amazon and add it to the cart.

Early Testing
Apple is already testing the feature with several popular apps. These include Uber, AllTrails, Threads, Temu, Amazon, YouTube, Facebook, and WhatsApp.
With these integrations, Siri could act as a direct link between the user’s voice and the app’s functions. A quick command could replace minutes of manual navigation.
Future Release
Apple is not rushing this release; Bloomberg reports the upgraded Siri may arrive in spring 2026.
This extended timeline suggests Apple is prioritizing accuracy, reliability, and smooth integration over speed.
Voice assistants have long struggled with context and precision. Apple may want to address these issues by giving Siri direct access to app features.
