Notion has introduced a new email tool, and it’s called Notion Mail. This AI-powered email client integrates directly with Gmail.

It also connects smoothly with other Notion tools, including Notion Calendar and the workspace platform.

Smarter Email

Notion Mail allows users to:

  • Connect their Gmail accounts
  • Use AI to draft emails
  • Organize their inbox
  • Schedule meetings
  • Search across conversations

Built for Personalization, Not Just Speed

According to Jason Ginsberg, an engineer behind Notion Mail, this product is more than a Gmail add-on.

He described it as “modular,” giving users full control over how their inbox works.

Users can shape their email experience. Instead of sticking to default settings, they build their own custom workflows. For example, they can:

  • Create folders (called “views”) for different types of emails
  • Auto-label messages by topic
  • Set rules for organizing messages based on AI suggestions

Standing Out in a Crowded Market

The email space is crowded, and startups like Superhuman and Fyxer have gained attention. Superhuman raised $108 million, and Fyxer recently raised $10 million.

Notion Mail competes by doing more than writing assistance: it changes how people interact with email altogether.

Instead of just replying faster, users avoid inbox overload. AI now handles the sorting, filtering, and organizing.

Seamless Calendar Integration

One standout feature is Notion Mail’s integration with Notion Calendar. When someone suggests a meeting in an email, AI checks your schedule.

Then, it recommends open slots and with one click, users can send a proposed time. This saves time and keeps everything in one place.

The Skiff Acquisition

In 2024, Notion acquired Skiff, a secure platform offering encrypted email and documents. Ginsberg co-founded Skiff, and he and his team helped build the core infrastructure of Notion Mail. This background influenced the security and customization offered today.
